  1. My name is Venette and I grew up here in California, in many different cities near Los Angeles, and also here in the SF Bay Area. At this time of year, I spend a lot of my time teaching, which is a great career for me because I love learning languages and meeting different people. In my free time, I enjoy gardening and learning about photography. I hope to grow a lot of vegetables and flowers this year and learn more about digital photography. Last year I decided to study Mandarin. I was happy that I learned a little, but I was also very surprised that Mandarin was so difficult for me! It was very hard to try to write characters! This year I look forward to planning a trip to the Amazon River and some of Brazil for next summer, but we might need to postpone taking the trip until 2011 because of my husband's job. Still, I am excited about going because I used to live in Portugal, and now I want to take some time to see Brazil.

  2. My name is Daniel Twal and I'm from Spain. I expend most of my time working in a Spanish company in Financial District, I enjoy this job and my co-workers and bosses are very nice people to work with. In my free time I use to go out to know the city and the Bay Area, with my family or with my workmates. I enjoy to keep up with economic, tech and politics news, but I don't have much free time to do it. Wow, last year was a hard year, I had to finished my degree and take the decision to come here, and find a job. Now I know that this decision have been wonderful and I'm learning a lot in SFO. This year I'm trying to learn as much as I can, while I'm looking for jobs in my home country.

  4. Hi! My name is Vicente. I'm from Mexico.
I've been spending my time working at Samovar Tea Lounge at Hayes Valley. I really enjoy working at Samovar, meeting people every day and talking about tea, is an amazing experience.

In my free time like hiking, meeting friends, drinking a tea, going to the movie theater and watching a movie, and the most important I REALLY like to go to the ballet, I went to see swan lake and was so beautiful.

Last year, I decided to save money and try to take vacations at least every 6 months. In September I went to Hawaii. It is a peaceful place. The people are friendly and the beaches are beautiful and you can do different activities, and eat a lot of Sushi :-). Last month I went to Miami. The weather was not good, it was raining and freezing, but is a beautiful place, I'm positive that I'll go back again, even if my experience was not as I hoped. Besides working, I feel good visiting different states.

This year I have a clear goal, I started to study at City College because I want to improve my English and in the future study a career and build a better future.

  12. It is nice to have a computer lab, and we also have a library in this school but I do not know what the school thinking about those. The computer lab has been missed used for a couple of years, and it has not still been using very much as most students are expecting. Now we have a library began to open a couple of months ago, but its schedule only some hours, and one day for a hole week. Some students have asked me about the lab. and the library.I always feel skeptical to answer that the school needs more money, and also needs some more time to work on...?!?!?!?.

  17. My name is Norman. I was born in Costa Rica, a beautiful, little country in Central America. I came to United States 5 moths ago, and I'm really happy living here. I spend my time working and studying. This is hard for me because sometimes I don't have time to rest or enjoy my interests like getting exercise, playing sport or maybe only reading a book. My goal is to finish ESL classes and to continue my Studies at college. I plan to study Diagnostic Medical Imaging. I feel very discouraged about this because it is a hard career but I like it and think based in my skills it is good career for me.
